Game Setup
To set up the game, all the children are sitting in a circle facing inward of the circle with the exception of one person who is chosen to start and they are called “It”. You can draw straws or flip coins to see who will be “It” first. Or you can just randomly choose a child to be “It” first. Or the child who is hosting the party can be “It” first.
How To Play Duck Duck Goose
The game is played with a group of players sitting in a circle, facing inward. The “it” player on the outside of the circle goes around tapping or pointing to each player in turn, calling each a “duck,” until “It” reaches one child chosen randomly by “It” and “It” will call that child “Goose”. The “Goose” then becomes the chaser of “It”.
The “Goose” (chaser) then stands up and attempts to catch “It” by tagging “It”. “It” will attempt to run to and sit where the “Goose” had been sitting before that person was chosen as the “Goose”.
If “It” succeeds in returning and sitting down before being tagged, the “Goose” becomes “It” for another round.
If the “Goose” tags “It” before he can sit down in “Goose” spot, “It” will continue to be “It”.
The game can continue indefinitely until everyone wants to quit or everyone has had a chance to be “It”.
Scoring Rules
There are no set rules for scoring in duck duck goose. However, you can keep track of how many times each person has been “It” or the “Goose”, or you can simply keep score based on who is winning at any given moment. Come up with your own version.
Game Strategies
1. If you’re “It” stay alert and stay mobile. Constantly be on your guard and move quickly to stay out of reach of the “Goose”.
